A Linguistic and Intellectual Aesthetic Analysis of Monaajaat-e Molla Abdollah

Abstract

The most famous work of Allameh Ahmadiyan in the form of rhymed prose is The Monajāt-e Mollā Abdollāh. This book of supplications is a collection of prayers written in rhymed prose, expressing themes such as repentance, forgiveness, patience, and more through eloquent and melodious language. The use of rhymed prose (nathr-e mosajja‘) in this work leads the reader to a deep and mystical experience, captivating them within the atmosphere of prayer and supplication. The musicality of the words not only adds a special aesthetic charm to the piece but also enhances the sanctity of the mystical and religious concepts. One of the most outstanding linguistic and aesthetic features of Monajat-e Mulla Abdullah is the author’s remarkable ability to create rhymed words. This skill not only reflects Allameh’s literary taste and mastery of the Kurdish language and rhetorical elements but also plays a fundamental role in conveying mystical emotions, softening the language, and creating an inner musicality within the text. Unlike many other supplication texts that use complex and difficult language, the language of this work is simple and easy to understand. This simplicity does not imply superficiality of content; rather, it is an artistic simplicity that fosters a deeper and more impactful connection with the audience. From an intellectual perspective, the most prominent ethical message of this Monajat-nāmeh is the emphasis on self-knowledge and knowledge of God. The primary aim of this study is to examine the linguistic and intellectual aesthetics of this work. Conducted using a descriptive-analytical method, the research seeks to demonstrate how rhymed prose (nathr-e mosajja‘) can play an effective role beyond being merely a literary form in expressing mystical concepts. The results of this study prove that Monajat-e Mulla Abdullah is not only a book written in rhymed prose but also a valuable literary work that can inspire writers in the field of mysticism.
